Are you considering a career in teaching?

This short course will equip you with the fundamentals to teach and assess learning, develop your awareness of a teacher’s responsibilities and enable you to plan and teach inclusive lessons to post 16 learners, in formal settings and in the workplace.

This course will be offered via a blended learning approach with face to face sessions and online sessions on the following dates and times:

Course times: Wednesday afternoons 13.00-16.00
Location: Cornwall College St Austell (for face to face sessions)
Dates: Weekly from 14/10/20 to 9/12/20 (excluding 28/10/20)

  What You Will Learn

This 30 hour part time course will cover what teachers actually do, and which other professionals they work with on a day to day basis. You will learn how to teach a short session, including how to plan and what resources to use. You will find out how to check whether others are learning what you are teaching and how to give and respond to feedback.

  Entry Requirements

There are no pre requisites for this programme. We ask all applicants to complete an initial assessment in English and maths so we can provide any support you might require.

  Assessment

Written assignments are completed outside classroom taught hours along with a short teaching session and evaluation exercise taken in front of peers.

  Progression

Once you have finished the course, you’ll have a real understanding of the fundamentals of teaching and learning. You can progress to our assessor qualifications, if you work in industry and would like to assess people within the workplace. If you have really got the bug and passion to teach you can become a fully qualified teacher in further education by moving onto the Level 5 Diploma In Education and Training. You can study this on a part time basis to fit in with other commitments, or full time.
