This course is an introduction to using a chainsaw and health and safety requirements.

This course is aimed at domestic users who will be trained in health and safety, PPE requirements, chainsaw safety checks and basic cross cutting at ground level. You will be taught by our trainer who delivers our NPTC CS30 courses.

The course isn’t accredited so cannot be used for paid or voluntary work. If you are looking for a business accredited qualification, please see our NPTC Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting course page.

  What You Will Learn

Basic use and maintenance of the chainsaw
Current health and safety legislation and safety clothing (PPE) guidance
Fuel mixtures and lubricants
Power unit, safety features, recoil starter
Chain identification, bar maintenance, sharpening
Hot & cold start
Chain saw handling

A practical course which meets the Health and Safety Executive requirements for this type of machine. The course promotes awareness of hazards in lift truck operation (rough terrain), machine capabilities/limitations, and develops operator skills with telescopic materials handlers.
