Enhance Your Trade Skills on Our Practical 5 Week Courses

Starting soon Cornwall College will be hosting another series of Saturday Skills Workshops. Perfect for anyone interested in either improving their DIY skills, or for existing trades people who are looking to enhance their careers.

Courses available include; plumbing, furniture making, plastering, brick and blockwork and bench joinery. On successful completion each learner will receive a college certificate.

Designed to meet the needs of both enthusiast and professional, the Saturday Skills Workshops will give you all the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience you need to gain useful new skills.

Brick & Blockwork:
Introduction to basic tools and their uses, how to mix mortar correctly, fundamentals of blocklaying gauge, level, plumb and range. How to set out and spot board and stack blocks ready for use, how to spread and roll out mortar, how to build corners, correct measurements, how to build a cavity wall to building designs, how to build a block pillar and use various lintels.

This Level 2 one-year course will ensure you are fully knowledgeable in all plumbing and heating systems. To become a fully qualified plumber, most people start here. We offer both full-time study and apprenticeship options for you to train to be a professional plumber. Occupational Work Supervision Level 3 (OSAT)

Are you working in the construction industry but do not have a NVQ qualification in your specialist trade? If so On Site Assessment & Training (OSAT) is your route to gaining recognition for the skills that you possess. OSAT allows you to continue working full time on site with no college attendance needed. A specialist assessor will work with you in the workplace to guide you through your qualification ensuring you know exactly what to do to successfully complete your NVQ qualification. Completing the level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) OSAT will make you eligible to apply for a CSCS Gold Supervisory Card. This qualification is aimed at experienced workers in a technical, managerial or supervisory role (e.g. foreman) who are seeking to develop their competence and improve their skills and knowledge. ‘Completing an OSAT was ideal for me. ACS Gas Training & Qualifications: Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1)

We provide full training and assessment for a wide range of ACS Gas Qualifications. You may also undertake a refresher course or introductory training prior to assessment if needed in our state-of-the-art training facilities at Cornwall College Camborne. Training is not a prerequisite to assessment however and you may just apply for the assessment and certificate elements of these qualifications.
