With Brexit on the horizon and apprenticeship reforms about to come into effect, businesses in the region have been urged to attend a vital industry update breakfast. 

CCB (Cornwall College Business) is hosting a Funding and Apprenticeship update breakfast on Thursday 23rd March at The Business Space, Truro 7.45am – 9.30am, and Gareth Kenward, Business Relationship Manager said it would be “a great opportunity for local businesses to find out about the wide range of fully-funded training we can offer”.

Businesses across the South West are set to benefit from free Apprenticeship reform consultations.

From 6 April, levy payers will make their first payments to the digital account, although there are concerns that some organisations are yet to set theirs up, according to Jacqui Franklin Development Manager for TCCG.

“We are urging levy-paying businesses who have yet to set up an account to get in contact as we can help them through this process,” she explained.

Rising Stars with CCB (Cornwall College Business), is being delivered through the ESF Widening Participation through Skills Project.

Top universities choose new apprenticeship to plug IT skills gap

A ground breaking apprenticeship is being lauded by top universities for helping to plug a serious IT skills gap in the higher education sector.

The new SITS Software Developer Apprenticeship, which launched in September last year, is now being delivered nationally and has seen such high demand, a new intake of apprentices is taking place in June.

Nick Leake, chief information officer at King’s College, London, said the tackling the lack of Strategic Information Technology Service (SITS) professionals in the industry was a must.
